MENARG
About the Group
The Middle East and North Africa Research Group at Western University (MENARG) is an initiative that aims to increase awareness of new scholarly and scientific knowledge, coming from research projects and publications by leading specialists that may impact the MENA region.
Although we are based in the History department, our interest is multi-disciplinarian and extends to all relevant research projects that may throw new light on the MENA region through evidence and analysis. Our discussions focused in the past on subjects ranging from history to current politics, from classical Islamic law to social studies, from linguistics and religion to anthropology, economics and medicine.
Accordingly, our list of guest speakers included Western’s own faculty, whose research interests touch the Middle East and North Africa, as well as leading scholars from across Canada and beyond, who spoke about their new and exciting research.
